General concept
Space Rift is a free space strategy game played in your browser. You command a fledgling civilization on a starting planet, and you grow your empire to dominate the galaxy. The game is played over the long term, in real time: constructions, research and fleet movements take time. You start an action, come back later, and your empire keeps producing while you are away.
Game loop
Build mines to continuously produce the 4 resources: Titanium, Graphene, Silicon, Hydrogen.
Erect buildings to speed up production, train populations, build ships.
Unlock technologies to access ever more powerful weapons, engines, shields and modules.
Launch fleets to colonize new planets, attack your enemies and mine asteroids.
The 4 resources
Everything in the game is built from these four resources. Each planet produces them continuously through its mines, and each planet has production bonuses unique to its type.
Titanium
Basic structural metal. Goes into virtually all constructions and ship productions.
Graphene
High-performance conductor. Essential for electronics, shields and energy systems.
Silicon
Building material. Required for planetary infrastructure, reactive shields and defenses.
Hydrogen
Universal fuel. Used in propulsion, energy and many advanced researches.
Progression
Your ranking score is calculated from the total value of everything you have built: buildings, technologies, ships and defenses. Colonizing new planets is crucial to multiplying your production.
In-game objectives guide your development and reward major milestones of your empire. Alliances allow you to cooperate, share resources via 🛸 alliance stations, , and declare 🏆 alliance wars.
