Frequently asked questions
Can I lose my fleet while I sleep?
Not if it's docked. By default, ships landed on a planet don't take part in its defense and are invulnerable. Only fleets in flight, or those you choose to commit to defense, can be destroyed.
Is the game free?
Yes. Space Rift is free to play in your browser, on desktop and mobile, with nothing to install. An optional shop lets you speed up your progress; credits can also be earned by voting for the game and referring friends.
How much time does it take?
A few sessions a day are enough. Construction, research and travel take real time: you give your orders, come back later, and your empire has kept producing. If you need to be away, vacation mode keeps your account safe.
The world has already started, is it too late?
No. In an advanced world, the catch-up bonus speeds up production, construction and population training for players who are behind. And players much stronger than you cannot attack you.
Can I play without attacking other players?
Yes. AI-controlled warlords, asteroid mining, Frontier outposts, developing your planets: there is plenty to do without picking fights. Non-aggression pacts also protect you from your neighbors.
