Populations
Populations are trained in the Barracks. Civilians, engineers, scientists and officers unlock your buildings' bonuses; military units fight on the ground.
Training populations
Populations are trained in the Barracks. Each type has a training cost expressed in "training units": a Civilian costs 1 unit, an Officer costs 60. The Barracks' training speed (units per hour) grows with its level and with the Training Efficiency technology. You set your training priorities for each type, and the Barracks follows them.
Assignment to buildings
Non-military populations can be assigned to buildings to activate their production bonuses. This is not automatic: you choose how many workers go into each building from the π₯ Populations.
Engineers
Shared between the Industrial Complex (speeds up all constructions) and the Shipyard (speeds up ships). This is your most critical progression resource.
Scientists
Shared between the Laboratory (research speed) and the Orbital Station (ship construction speed + radar range).
Civilians
Supply the Economic Center. Without assigned Civilians, the Economic Center produces no production bonus.
Officers
Supply the Headquarters. Speed up defense construction proportionally to the number assigned.
Military units
Military populations (Soldier, Doctor, Commando, Sniper) cannot be assigned to buildings β they are available for ground combat missions via portal. See the βοΈ Ground combat
The Doctor β healing mechanic
Doctors heal a share of losses after each combat, based on the ratio of doctors to frontline units: each additional doctor heals a bit more, but never beyond 50 % of losses. With 1 Doctor for 10 frontline units, healing reaches half of this maximum. They are essential for maintaining the durability of your troops during attacks.
